Check to see that your browser has cookies enabled. Cookies are used in the ICO Global Search site for several reasons:

    1. Keep track of the last options you selected so you receive them again.
    2. Record your session login information in the event that your session expires before you are finished. The next time you click on a password-protected page, the site will automatically log you in.
    3. Record any preference settings you have selected.

There are acuatally separate logins and databases for the File Manager and the PatentCafe's Global Patent Search site. The system typically can handle logging you in to both at the time you the login to the PatentCafe Global Patent Search site.

Occassionally, the 2 systems become un-synchronized. To solve this issue, follow these steps:

    1. Log in to the PatentCafe Patent Search site by going to www.patentcafe.com and clicking "login".
    2. Go to your control panel, and choose Account Management.
    3. Change your password to something new.
    4. Close all browser windows.
    5. Re-start the browser.
    6. Delete the cookies associated with the PatentCafe website.
    7. Log back in to PatentCafe.

You should now be able to access your File Manager as well as all of the software features of the PatentCafe Patent Search site.

Question: How do I start a recording session?

I can't seem to get any new projects or clients added in the new version. How do I do this?

    Solution:
There are two ways to do this in version 3 of Pantros IP Patent Search.

First is from the control panel, which appears when you first log in.

Check item 2, "Check to set Session Recording Options", on the control panel. It looks like this:

The next screen you see looks like this:

You can select one of the active projects, or you can can add the client in the "Create and Track a New Project" area. Note that the Reference Number (Ref. Nbr) is a required field. When you've entered the data, make sure the "Select" option is chosen, and scroll all the way to the bottom of the page. You'll see this:

Click on the "START" button. It will save your project and start the session at the same time.

The second way is very similar, but accessed through a pop-up window on the TOOLS menu. First, click on the "Record My Search" link:

That pops up a window very similar to the one in the control panel. Follow the same instructions above, and you will be recording on a new project.

As with the previous version, you can select an existing project by using the "Select" option in the correct line for the project you're working on, and click on the "START" button at the bottom of the page.

This can happen if your passwords between the ICO Search and the download center get out of "synch" and repeated logins are tried to the download center.

It is actually part of the security of the download center to disable the login when too many failures have taken place.

Drop an email to help@pantrosip.com to have your download center account reset so you can access it.

It's a good idea to reset your password to the whole site at the same time so you're starting from fresh. Follow the instructions in the related issue below.

Question: How can I get PDF's into my Download Center?

It appears that the only way to obtain PDFs is to open them one at a time in the browser and save them to disk from the browser.

    Isn't there an easier way?

    Solution:

[--- UPDATED: 2/5/2010 10:00:45 AM BY AGENT: Lena Lowe ---]

There are several ways to download PDFs:

    1. Check the box to select patents for download. Choose next page or choose "Download Checked" when you have completed checking the patents you want. The download center will allow you to choosed PDFs for selected patents.

    2. Go to your “My Account” tab and choose Account Preferences. Find the preference for Select "how to handle PDF Display Preference:". Choose "Mark PDFs to Move to Download Manager". After you’ve finished clicking on the PDF’s, go to your download center and choose the PDF type of download.

    3. Develop a list of patents to retrieve PDFs in your notepad or excel. The format of the number should be “CC nnnnnnn”, where CC is Country Code (i.e., US, WO, EP, etc) and nnnnnnn is the document number. Go to Patent Search, Patent Shuttle. Paste your list of patents in, and choose Export, then click the Search button. You will be able to choose download to PDF from this path as well.

Question: How do I upload files to my issue?

How do I upload images or attach files to my posting?

    Solution:
If you are submitting a screen shot, then create a MSPaint or Word Document file with the screen shot in it. Save this file to a directory where you know it is.

Otherwise, if it's an excel document or other file, note the directory where it is.

Then, start by submitting a question. After you've entered your user information, at the bottom of the page, you will see the following:

    You will see this screen:

After you've pressed "Continue to Step 2", you will see this screen:

Follow the instructions and the file will be uploaded!

If you are trying to upload when you respond to a posting, see the link at the bottom of the response page:

Question: I keep getting disconnected from the Pantros Search site.

My "To Excel" keeps on getting disconnected, or I keep on losing my session.

The search results page times out, or I time out getting the display of patents in the results page.

    Solution:

Please make sure to add www.patentcafe.com to your trusted sites list, and in your virus or spyware scanning, www.patentcafe.com is not a site which is scanned for save download content.

If you are still having a problem, please email the details of what you are doing when you are disconnected to help@pantrosip.com, or post another answers issue.
